There is a misconception among people that sunscreen causes cancer. In fact, sunscreens protect the skin from cancer by blocking harmful UV rays, which are the main cause of cancer. Applying sunscreen on very hot days is very beneficial for the skin. Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher to apply to the skin. Applying it daily can protect the skin from UV rays.

UV Rays and Cancer

Ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun are the main cause of skin cancer, which causes melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer. In such cases, sunscreen acts as a shield. Sunscreen prevents harmful UV rays from reaching your skin and causing damage.

Reduces the risk of cancer

  1. Using sunscreen daily and correctly reduces the risk of skin cancer.
  2. Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen
  3. Choose a sunscreen that protects against both UVA and UVB rays, which is labeled "broad spectrum."
  4. Choose an SPF based on your skin type

Choose a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher, as you should generally choose an SPF that is appropriate for your skin type. Apply sunscreen to your skin, including your face, neck, ears, and hands. Reapply sunscreen every two hours or more if you're swimming or sweating.

Don't rely on sunscreen alone

In addition to using sunscreen, you should also do other things to protect your skin. For example, stay in the shade when you go outside, dress appropriately to protect yourself, and wear sunglasses when you go outside. Avoid going out in the hot sun. Take care of your health.
