Sant Gajanan Maharaj is a highly revered spiritual figure in India, particularly in the state of Maharashtra.  The birth anniversary of Sant Gajanan Maharaj  is celebrated with great enthusiasm. Gajanan Maharaj's birth anniversary is celebrated not only in Maharashtra but also by devotees across India and abroad. On this occasion, hundreds of processions arrive in Shegaon. The city of Shegaon, the Pandharpur of Vidarbha, resonates with the sounds of cymbals and drums. The 148th birth anniversary celebration of Shri Gajanan Maharaj in 2026 has begun with great enthusiasm.

On the occasion of Shri Gajanan Maharaj's birth anniversary celebration, countless devotees from across the state and the country are arriving in the holy city of Shegaon for darshan . Hundreds of devotional processions from various parts of the state are also arriving, and the entire city of Shegaon is immersed in a devotional atmosphere. The Shri Sansthan (temple trust) is celebrating this festival with great devotion and enthusiasm. The Shri Sansthan has made all necessary arrangements for the pilgrims and devotees arriving in the devotional processions. As usual, Mahaprasad  is being distributed daily from 10 AM to 5 PM for the devotees at the Sansthan. The Shri Sansthan is taking complete care to ensure that the devotees attending the festival do not face any inconvenience. This year, Shri Gajanan Maharaj's birth anniversary is on February 8, 2026.

Gajanan Maharaj Festival Begins with Enthusiasm

The Shri Gajanan Maharaj Temple holds daily religious programs: Kakada (6:00-6:45 AM), bhajans (7:15-9:15 AM), discourses (4:00-5:00 PM), Haripath (5:30-6:00 PM), and Kirtan (8:00-10:00 PM). The week-long 148th birth anniversary celebration of Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj of Shegaon features special bhajans and kirtans.

Shegaon, now a taluka headquarters in the Buldhana district of Vidarbha, gained prominence due to Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj. Formerly Shivgaon, the village's name evolved to Shegaon. Sant Gajanan Maharaj first appeared there on February 23, 1878, for the benefit of his devotees. Gajanan Maharaj temples exist throughout India and abroad, where devotees offer regular worship.
