High levels of bad cholesterol are a serious health problem. They raise the risk of heart attacks and strokes. Cholesterol builds up in blood vessels, causing blockages that reduce blood flow to the heart. As cholesterol rises, certain symptoms may appear, some of which you might notice while walking. 

Symptoms of Increased Cholesterol Seen While Walking

  1. Leg Pain While Walking:  One of the earliest symptoms of high cholesterol is pain in the legs while walking. As cholesterol builds up in the veins, they become narrower, preventing proper oxygen supply to the muscles. This causes pain and fatigue in the thighs, calves, waist, and legs, especially while walking or climbing stairs.
  2. Weak Muscles: Cholesterol causes blood vessels to constrict, which can weaken the muscles in the legs. This may be felt while walking, balancing, or standing for extended periods.
  3. Cold Lower Extremities: When cholesterol levels rise, blood circulation becomes impaired. As a result, the feet may feel colder than the rest of the body, especially after walking. Constricted blood vessels prevent smooth blood flow, leading to reduced heat transfer.
  4. Numbness and Tingling: When cholesterol accumulates and blocks the arteries, it obstructs normal function. This may cause tingling or numbness in the feet. Anyone experiencing this frequently should consult a doctor immediately.
  5. Change in Skin Color: If the color of your feet turns lighter or a bluish-purple, it could be a sign of high cholesterol. This occurs when less oxygen reaches the skin due to poor circulation.

How to Reduce Cholesterol: Get regular tests to monitor your cholesterol levels.

  1. Avoid oily, fried, and spicy foods.
