The temperature has increased across the state and not only humans but also our smartphone in pocket gets heated. The harsh May sun and rising temperatures can act as a "silent killer" for your expensive phone. Many people have a habit of standing in the sun for hours to talk or play games; however, this seemingly minor mistake could permanently render your phone useless. To prevent your phone from turning into a "time bomb" during the summer, it is absolutely essential to take the following five precautions:
Avoid Using It in Direct Sunlight: When out and about, we often talk on our phones or watch videos while standing directly in the sun. The sun's intense rays cause the phone's body and display to heat up rapidly. This places a strain on the processor and leads to the phone overheating. Whenever possible, avoid using your phone in the sun; if you must use it, do so while standing in the shade.
Exercise Caution While Charging!: Charging your phone during the summer can pose a significant risk. If you plug in your phone to charge when the ambient temperature is already high, the battery's temperature can skyrocket. This increases the risk of battery swelling or a short circuit. Always charge your phone in a cool, well-ventilated area.
Don't Forget to Remove Thick Phone Covers
We often use thick, fancy covers to protect our phones. However, during the summer, these very covers trap heat inside, preventing it from dissipating. Consequently, the phone continues to heat up internally. If you notice your phone getting hot, remove the cover for a while to allow the heat to escape.
Clear Out Background Apps: Running multiple apps simultaneously places a heavy load on the processor and generates heat. During the summer, keep Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS turned off when they are not needed. Additionally, periodically close apps running in the background to help keep your phone cool.
Do NOT Try This Remedy for Overheating! If your phone becomes excessively hot, switch it off immediately and place it in a cool location. However, exercise caution! In your eagerness to cool it down, never place the phone inside a refrigerator. Doing so can cause moisture to accumulate inside the device, potentially damaging its internal circuitry. Instead, allow the phone to cool down naturally in front of a fan.
A single careless habit on your part could permanently damage the phone's battery or significantly diminish its overall performance. Therefore, be sure to follow these 'tech tips' when using your smartphone during the summer months.
