Somvati Amavasya 2026: Auspicious conjunction of Somvati Amavasya has come together on February 16, 2026,However, the solar eclipse on the next day, February 17, and the 'Panchak' is also starting on the same day at 9:06 am. According to astrology, when the eclipse and Panchaka period coincide with the Amavasya, special care must be taken of some things. Even small mistakes made on this day can cause mental and financial distress.

Somvati Amavasya is considered the best for getting rid of Pitru Dosha and getting auspicious results. However, since the eclipse and Panchaka start on February 16 this year, it is considered taboo to do certain things. Therefore, it is necessary to be careful on this double yoga day.

Avoid 'these' mistakes during Somvati Amavasya, eclipse and Panchaka:

1. Starting a new job or financial transaction: Avoid making new business deals or big financial transactions. It is believed that the work started during Panchaka often has to be done five times or there are obstacles in it. Also, Amavasya and Eclipse are considered auspicious days for auspicious work.

2. House construction or repair work: During this period, one should not collect wood, put up a roof (dhaba) or start house repair work. This causes architectural defects and there is a possibility of damage to the house.

3. Traveling in the South direction: During this period, one should avoid traveling in the South direction, as this direction is considered to be the direction of Yama. This travel can be more troublesome especially on Amavasya days.

4. Buying a bed or mattress: According to the scriptures, buying or making a bed, mattress or mattress is a taboo during this period. Doing so can bring illness or mental unrest in the family.

5. Arguing and negative thoughts: The moon is weak on Amavasya, which can cause mental discomfort. In such a situation, do not argue with anyone when the influence of Panchaka starts. Being irritated can cause obstacles in your work.

6. Taking or lending money from anyone: If you exchange money on this day, it will be very difficult to get that money back. Transactions made during this period are likely to drag on for a long time.

7. Cutting Tulsi leaves or cutting trees: Do not harm any tree on Amavasya and Panchaka. Cutting Tulsi leaves is also considered a great sin. The leaves should be cut and kept the day before for worship.

What should be done to get auspicious results?

  • Take bath and donate before 9 am.
  • Offering tarpan or food in the name of ancestors will be very fruitful.
  • Chant the mantra 'Om Namah Shivaya', which will help you to get rid of Amavasya, Eclipse
