We want to start exercising and stay fit, but it's difficult to maintain the same enthusiasm every day. Sometimes we get bored, and sometimes lack of time becomes an excuse. However, if we change our perspective on exercise, we can motivate ourselves to exercise even when we don't feel like it.

Here are some important tips for starting and maintaining an exercise routine:

1. Don't aim for an hour, at least do 15 minutes of activity

Many people think that if they don't exercise for an hour, it's not considered exercise at all. But this thinking is wrong. If you don't have an hour, just walk for 15-20 minutes or dance with your children. In the pursuit of doing things 'perfectly', we end up doing nothing at all. So, focus on being active for whatever time you have available.

2. Don't associate exercise solely with weight loss

Most people exercise only to lose weight. But when the number on the weighing scale doesn't change, their enthusiasm fades, and they give up exercising. Instead, look at the other benefits of exercise:

Mental peace: Exercise reduces stress.

Energy: Exercise helps you stay fresh throughout the day.

Health: Exercise is essential for strengthening muscles and bones. Weight loss is a by-product, but the main goal should be 'health'.

3. Choose an exercise you enjoy

Just because someone else likes the gym doesn't mean you have to go there too. If you get bored with gym machines, go swimming, cycling, take a walk in nature, play badminton or any other sport, do Zumba, or Garba dance steps; when we do something we enjoy, it feels like 'pleasure' rather than a 'punishment'.

4. Find your reason for exercising

Why do you want to exercise? Just because someone told you to, or to see yourself fit 10 years from now? When your goal is clear (e.g., not getting tired while playing with your children, overcoming fatigue), your mind motivates you to exercise even when you don't feel like it.

So, instead of making excuses like not having time or not feeling like it, find your own path to fitness.
