Summer's heat, sweat, and pollution take a toll on hair, leading to dryness, dandruff, split ends, and increased hair loss. Expensive, chemical-laden shampoos and salon treatments often exacerbate the problem. Fortunately, simple kitchen ingredients can strengthen hair roots and restore shine. Here are two ideal hair masks for summer. In the summer, sweat leads to an accumulation of bacteria on the scalp, which often results in dandruff issues. To address this, apply a hair mask made of yogurt and lemon.

Yogurt acts as a natural conditioner, while lemon serves as an effective anti-fungal agent. For this mask, you will need one cup of fresh yogurt, one teaspoon of lemon juice, and one teaspoon of honey. In a bowl, combine the yogurt with the lemon juice and honey, and mix the ingredients thoroughly. Apply this mixture to your hair, working it in from the roots all the way down to the tips. After 30 minutes, wash your hair using lukewarm water and a mild shampoo. The yogurt provides protein to the hair, thereby strengthening the roots. The lemon helps to eliminate dandruff, while the honey helps to lock in moisture within the hair strands.

Aloe Vera is often regarded as a miraculous elixir for hair health. This particular mask is excellent for treating split ends, a common issue during the summer months. To prepare this mask, you will need 3 to 4 tablespoons of fresh Aloe Vera pulp (gel), 2 tablespoons of coconut oil, and 1 Vitamin E capsule. Combine the Aloe Vera gel and coconut oil, and whisk the mixture together until well blended. Mix Vitamin E oil into it. Apply this mixture thoroughly to the ends of your hair. Wash your hair after letting it sit for one hour. Aloe vera pulp contains amino acids, which help repair split ends. Coconut oil works to nourish the hair.

Wear a scarf or a hat when stepping outdoors in the sun to protect your hair from sun damage. Dehydration can cause the hair to become dry; therefore, drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water daily. During the summer, never use hot water to wash your hair, as this strips away its natural oils. Always use lukewarm or cool water instead.
