What should be the diet of children during exams?

Dietician Archana Jain advises that students should always eat breakfast on exam days to replenish glucose levels after an overnight fast. Optimal choices include oats, porridge, poha, upma, milk, and fruits like bananas, apples, and oranges for quick energy. A protein-rich option such as paneer or moong dal chila can sustain brain activity and stabilize blood sugar, enhancing concentration. Walnuts and almonds, rich in omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants, can improve memory and focus. Pumpkin, sunflower, and chia seeds provide magnesium and iron. Small amounts of dark chocolate can also boost mood and concentration. Green leafy vegetables like spinach, fenugreek, and broccoli, rich in folate and vitamin K, are crucial for brain function. A daily handful of mixed dry fruits and seeds can also be beneficial.

What exactly should you eat just before an exam?

According to dietician Archana Jain, on the day of the exam, you should eat a light but instant energy-giving diet. Eating too many fried or heavy meals can cause lethargy. Eating porridge, milk and fruits for breakfast is beneficial. You can eat bananas before going to the exam and make sure to keep a bottle of water with you. If the exam is in the afternoon, then you should have rice, polhi and green leafy vegetables for lunch. Avoid eating too much spicy food and junk food.
