45 new positive cases in Gujarat, tally reaches 617

Gujarat crossed the six hundred mark with 617 positive cases of coronavirus on Tuesday, as Ahmedabad continued having more than half the state's total with 351 positive cases. On Tuesday, the health authorities detected 45 more positive cases across the state, with no death. A total of 26 have died due to the corona in the state.

Gandhinagar, April 14 Gujarat crossed the six hundred mark with 617 positive cases of coronavirus on Tuesday, as Ahmedabad continued having more than half the state's total with 351 positive cases. On Tuesday, the health authorities detected 45 more positive cases across the state, with no death. A total of 26 have died due to the corona in the state.

Ahmedabad, once again emerged as the major area of coronavirus infection spread in the state, with more than half of Gujarat's total positive cases.

On Tuesday morning, the intensified surveillance and testing detected 45 new positive cases out of which Ahmedabad had 31, Surat had nine, Mahesana two and one positive case each in Bhavnagar, Dahod and Gandhinagar.

Now Gujarat has crossed the six hundred mark with a total of 617 positive cases where Ahmedabad has the maximum number of cases 351, followed by Vadodara 107, Surat 42, Bhavnagar 24, Rajkot 18, Gandhinagar 16, Patan 14, Bharuch 11, Anand nine, Kutch and Mahesana with four each, Porbandar and Chhota Udepur three each, Dahod, Banaskantha, Panchmahals and Gir-Somnath two each and Jamnagar, Morbi and Sabarkantha one each.

"Most of the 45 positive cases are from the clusters or Hotspots in Ahmedabad and Surat, whereas the Bhavnagar positive patient contracted virus from his visit to Nagarwada, a hotspot in Vadodara. Two positive cases from Mahesana contracted during their visit to Mumbai and one Dahod positive is a multi-purpose health worker, who contracted while treating a positive case from Indore," said Jayanti Ravi, the principal secretary, Health and family welfare Department, Gujarat.

"Out of the total 536 active cases, the condition of 527 is stable, they are on normal air or simple oxygen, whereas the condition of nine is critical and they are on ventilators, seven admitted in Ahmedabad's SVP hospital and the others in Bhavnagar and Kutch hospitals" added Ravi.

"In the last 24 hours, the health authorities tested 1,723 persons, where 79 have been found positive, 1,644 negative," added Ravi.

A total of 14,980 samples have been tested, out of which 617 were positive and 14,363 negative.

"As we are carrying out random testing in other districts, where no positive cases have been found, as guided by the Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. Out of the 14 districts we found only two cases from Banaskantha yesterday, and no other positive cases have been found," added Ravi.

On Tuesday, a male (20) admitted in the Ahmedabad's SVP hospital was discharged. A total of 55 patients have been discharged till date.

"The total number of quarantined in the state is 13,751, where 12,208 are home quarantined, 1,374 in government facilities and 169 in private facilities," added Ravi.
