Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh's Personal Secretary Sanjeev Palande and Personal Assistant Kundan Shinde on Tuesday were sent to Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody till July 20 in connection with an alleged 'hafta' case.

Deshmukh and his aides -- Kundan Shinde and Sanjeev Palande -- are facing investigation in a multi-crore bribery-cum-extortion racket that was allegedly operational during his tenure as the state's home minister.

The ED had arrested Sanjeev Palande and Kundan Shine in last month after carrying out raids against them and Deshmukh in Mumbai and Nagpur.

Sanjeev Palande is Anil Deshmukh's personal secretary while Kundan Shine is his personal assistant.

Meanwhile, Deshmukh moved a petition in the Supreme Court for protection against coercive action by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the embattled ex-Home Minister skipped an ED summons for the third time in a week on Monday, this time, accusing ED that its probe against him was 'not transparent'.

The ED case against Anil Deshmukh and others was made out after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) first carried out a preliminary inquiry followed by a regular case being filed following orders of the Bombay High Court.
