Ajit Pawar Plane Crash: Indian cricketers on Wednesday expressed grief over the death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar, who was killed in a plane crash in Baramati. The aircraft crashed around 9 a.m. shortly after taking off from Mumbai. Pawar was travelling to attend a public meeting amid the ongoing Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections. Four others were also killed in the accident.
Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar said Maharashtra had lost a dedicated leader who worked for the people across the state. He extended condolences to Pawar’s family and friends. “Very sad to learn about the untimely demise of Shri Ajit Pawar ji. Maharashtra has lost a dedicated leader who worked for the people, across the state. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. Om Shant,” Sachin Tendulkar wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Former India captain Mohammed Azharuddin said he was deeply shaken by the news and offered sympathy to the bereaved family. He said Pawar’s death was a major loss and prayed for strength for his loved ones. “Deeply shaken by the news of Mr. Ajit Pawar’s plane crash. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his family find the strength and courage to endure this profound loss,” Azharuddin said.
Former cricketer Yusuf Pathan described Pawar as a committed leader and said his contribution to public service and the development of the state would be remembered. “Deeply saddened by the untimely demise of the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Mr Ajit Pawar in the tragic plane crash. He was a dedicated leader who served the state with utmost commitment and integrity. His contributions to public service and the development of the state will always be remembered. In this moment of profound grief, my thoughts and prayers are with his family, followers, and the people of the state. May the departed soul rest in eternal peace. There should be a proper investigation into this crash,” Yusuf Pathan wrote.
India batter Ajinkya Rahane said he was saddened by the tragic passing of Pawar and said his thoughts were with the family during the difficult time. “Saddened by the tragic passing of Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar dada. My thoughts are with his family,” Ajinkya Rahane wrote.
