A fishing boat caught fire early Friday, nearly 6 to 7 nautical miles off the Raigad district coast near Akshi in Alibaug. The incident took place around 3 to 4 a.m., according to the Raigad Superintendent of Police.

The Indian Coast Guard and Indian Navy responded quickly to the distress call and rescued all 18 crew members safely. Flames spread rapidly, destroying nearly 80% of the vessel. Fishing nets and other equipment on board were also reduced to ashes.

Despite the intensity of the blaze, no casualties were reported. The cause of the fire remains uncertain, but initial reports suggest a possible short circuit. The boat belonged to Rakesh Maruti Gan from Sakhar village.
