Former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, who has been embroiled in controversy over alleged recovery of Rs 100 crore from Mumbai-based bar owners, has left for Delhi on Saturday morning. The summons sent by the ED have added to Deshmukh's woes. A few days back, the ED had raided Anil Deshmukh's house. The ED had subsequently issued three summons to him. For this, he was asked to be present at the ED office at 11 am last Tuesday. However, Anil Deshmukh expressed inability to attend the ED inquiry in person.

Anil Deshmukh on Tuesday refused to appear before the ED, citing age, illness and covid pandemic. Instead, he showed willingness to record his statements via video conferencing. Deshmukh's lawyers have asked the ED for 8 days. The Directorate of Recovery (ED) has sought details on six issues, including details of all types of assets belonging to former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, on charges of financial misconduct and corruption. Sources in the ED said that they have been instructed to be present at the next inquiry along with the necessary documents.

Meanwhile, Anil Deshmukh has left for Delhi today. In Delhi, he has gone to take legal advice on the ED's notice.
