Sudarshan Ghule, accused in an extortion case involving a windmill company official, has been sent to three-day police custody. The CID sought his custody to collect a voice sample. He was produced before the Kej court on Wednesday.

The case was registered on December 11, 2024, after an official of Avada Company, which operates a windmill project in Massajog village of Kej taluka, was allegedly asked to pay ₹2 crore in extortion. Police named Valmik Karad, Vishnu Chate and Sudarshan Ghule as accused in the case.

Karad and Chate were previously taken into police custody, and their voice samples were collected. This is the first time Ghule has been remanded in police custody in connection with the case. He was presented before the Kej court on Wednesday, which granted three-day police custody.

CID sources said Ghule’s voice sample will be taken during this period. Officials also expect to gather additional crucial information from him. Karad and Chate remain in judicial custody.

CID Awaits Reports on Karad and Chate’s Voice Samples

Investigators found that Valmik Karad had allegedly spoken to the windmill company official using Vishnu Chate’s mobile phone. The CID had obtained a recording of this conversation, leading to the collection of their voice samples earlier. Now, Ghule’s voice sample will be taken. Officials are also awaiting forensic reports on the previously collected samples.
