In a shocking incident, a 40-year-old watchman of a housing complex allegedly beat his friend to death over a small fight in Bhiwandi town of Thane district. 

The accused indentified as Gopi Sethu Doli, a native of Nepal was arrested by the police on Wednesday.

According to senior inspector Maloji Shinde of Narpoli police station, Doli picked a fight with the victim, Deviram Thapa (50), a watchman of another building in the neighbourhood over a petty issue.

Doli was employed at a housing complex in Oswal Wadi, where the incident took place on Tuesday evening, he said.

Doli fought with the victim over a small issue and proceeded to punch and kick him to death, the official said.

Residents of the locality alerted the police, who sent the body for post-mortem and nabbed the accused, he said, adding that a case of murder has been registered in this regard.
