Last week, an MPSC youth committed suicide by strangulation in Pune. Despite passing the exam, the appointment was delayed for a year and a half and the young man took the last step. His name was Swapnil Lonakar. After Swapnil's suicide, the question of MPSC youth came to the fore again. Opposition BJP also took the government to task on this issue in the Legislative Assembly session. Since then, immediate measures are being taken by the state government.

The state's public health department, medical education department and other departments have been exempted from the recruitment restrictions. Minister of State for General Administration Dattatraya Bharane has informed that the process of filling 15,511 posts from group A to C through Maharashtra Public Service Commission will be started soon. Bharne said that a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in connection with the examinations conducted through MPSC and recruitment of vacant posts. Some important decisions have been taken in this meeting. Departments of Public Health, Medical Education, etc. have been exempted from recruitment restrictions.

Also, the Finance Department has approved to fill a total of 15,511 posts such as Group A 4,417 posts, Group B 8,031 posts and Group C 3,063 posts from the year 2018. Accordingly, action is being taken to check the reservation of these posts and filling the posts expeditiously. The meeting also directed to complete all the procedures for filling up the posts of members by the end of July. Apart from this, the issue of increasing the memberss of Maharashtra Public Service Commission on the lines of Kerala Public Service Commission was also discussed in this meeting.
