The BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday announced a Diwali bonus of Rs 15,500. It's an increase of Rs 500 compared to last year. 

Mayor Kishori Pednekar announced the workers' bonus. A bonus of Rs 15,500 will be given to municipal workers, Rs 7,750 to teachers and teaching staff of subsidised private schools, Rs 4,700 to education workers of municipal primary schools and Rs 2,350 to teachers of subsidised private schools. 

In addition, social health volunteers will be given Rs. 4,400 as a gift for Bhaubij (bhai dooj).

Although coronavirus has affected the income of the corporation, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had clarified that bonus should be given to the employees who work in this crisis.
