With an eye on the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections in February 2022, Bhartiya Janata Party plans to take power over BMC. Talks are rife that BJP will form an alliance with MNS to keep Shiv Sena out of power. While these discussions are going on, BJP MLA Prasad Lad has met MNS president Raj Thackeray.

Shiv Sena had broken the ties with BJP and joined hands with the Congress and the NCP after the election results to form the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in 2019 assembly elections. The BMC election will be a major battle between the two former allies – the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena – after the shift in the political dynamic in November 2019.

Prasad Lad visited Krishnakunj, Raj Thackeray's residence, for about half an hour. After leaving Krishnakunj, he also said that BMC mayor will be from BJP.

It is certain that BJP will contest the BMC elections with vigor. The right answer will be given at the right time. It has been decided that the BJP's flag will fly high on the BMC. No discussion has taken place with MNS yet. Today's visit was a personal and friendly one. I had received information that Raj Thackeray's hand was injured, that's why I went to meet him, 'said Prasad Lad. He also said that the meeting with Raj Thackeray was just a courtesy visit.
