The census is a highly important and extensive administrative exercise. All concerned departments have been instructed to provide the necessary manpower, officers, and staff at the taluka level. Under the proposed procedure, enumerators and supervisors will be appointed in every taluka, including areas under cantonment boards and municipal councils. Trainers will also be appointed to conduct training sessions. The government has issued a notification regarding the appointment and availability of manpower for the census.
For the census, a house listing will be prepared. A block will consist of 180 to 200 houses with a population of 700 to 800 people. One enumerator will be appointed for each block, while one supervisor will oversee six enumerators. The census mobile application will be downloaded on each enumerator’s phone, through which household lists and block lists will be prepared. Discussions were also held during the meeting on the effective use of digital tools, planning of training programmes, timely resolution of technical issues, and coordination among all departments.
