Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh on Thursday filed a plea in Bombay High court seeking CBI probe into allegations of corruption against state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. Before they destroy the evidence, Parambir Singh demanded an immediate, impartial inquiry into Anil Deshmukh's corrupt misconduct. Parambir Singh had earlier filed a petition in the Supreme Court. However, the apex court had asked him to file a petition in the high court.

Singh has also requested the court to direct an independent agency such as the CBI to take custody of the entire CCTV footage from the residence of the home minister, Anil Deshmukh, to prevent destruction of crucial evidence, says the PIL.

Deshmukh held a meeting with Sachin Vaze and Sanjay Patil at his residence in February 2021. The duo was targeted to collect Rs 100 crore per month. During the period 24-25 August 2020, Rashmi Shukla had informed the Director General of Police about the corrupt conduct of Anil Deshmukh, Singh said in the petition. The state government, the Center, the CBI and Anil Deshmukh have been named as defendants in the petition.

Another public interest litigation has been filed by Adv Ghanshyam Upadhyay seeking the appointment of a special inquiry team to probe Parambir Singh and other police officers along with Anil Deshmukh. Along with Deshmukh, Parambir Singh and Sachin Vaze's assets should be confiscated, he said in the petition.
