Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar’s municipal corporation will carry out a 30-hour water supply shutdown starting Thursday, March 20, to undertake repairs and maintenance work on a 1,400 mm diameter water pipeline under the railway station flyover, along with other minor works at the Nakshatrawadi water supply center. As a result, the city will face a two-day water supply disruption, according to executive engineer K.M. Phalak.

The shutdown was initially planned before summer, but intermittent technical faults had already disrupted the city’s water supply. Last week, while laying a new 1,100 mm diameter water pipeline under the railway station flyover near Tirupati Society, workers accidentally damaged the municipal corporation’s 1,400 mm pipeline, causing leakage. The workers fled upon noticing the leak. After an inspection two days ago, officials decided to schedule the shutdown.

Water Supply to Stop at 11 AM Thursday

The water supply from the Jayakwadi Dam will be halted at 11 a.m. on Thursday to begin repair work under the railway station flyover. Additional tasks include maintenance work at the Master Balancing Reservoir (MBR) on Nakshatrawadi Hill, as well as fixing minor leaks and electrical issues at Farola, Jayakwadi, and other locations.

Work to Continue Until Friday Evening

Repairs are expected to continue until Friday evening, after which water will be drawn from the Jayakwadi Dam to refill the city’s water tanks overnight. Regular water supply is set to resume on Saturday morning.

Water Supply Schedule Adjusted

Areas scheduled to receive water on Thursday and Friday will now get it on Saturday. All subsequent water supply schedules will be delayed by two days. The municipal corporation has urged residents to use water sparingly during this period.
