Chief Minister Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray on Friday approved Rs. 16.50 crores for relief to flood-affected people in Nagpur region. This relief amount will be utilised for providing domestic articles, financial help for house repairing, making shelters etc.

Heavy rains in the catchment area of rivers in Madhya Pradesh, led to a rise in water levels in several rivers in Maharashtra. It led to floods in Wainganga river. In Nagpur at least 90,000 persons were affected by the floods.

Vijay Wadettiwar state’s disaster relief minister blamed Madhya Pradesh (MP) for the crisis.

“There was no intimation from the neighbouring state about the massive water being released from dams on their side. Even as there were sudden heavy rains in MP, the concerned authorities should have intimated Maharashtra about the discharge in terms of quantity. There was no official communication whatsoever,” claimed the minister.
