Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation will spend Rs 4 crore for the renovation of Shivaji Park ground. But now the state Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has also given Rs 1.25 crore for beautification and lighting of sidewalks around Shivaji Park for senior citizens and sportspersons. This will be the first project funded by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray after he became MLC.

“Many senior citizens and sportspersons use walkways at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Park. But there is not enough light here and this causes inconvenience to citizens. So I request you to allocate Rs 1.25 crore from my MLC funds for additional illumination of this walkway,” Thackeray said in his letter..

In particular, MNS president Raj Thackeray had written a letter to the municipal commissioner to raise corporate funds for the Shivaji Park renovation project. Within weeks of Raj's letter, Uddhav Thackeray has ordered the use of his funds. Officials also said that the request for use of funds made by the Chief Minister was sent for immediate approval as a special case.
