Due to the increasing coronavirus cases in the Maharashtra, lockdown has been imposed in Marathwada. After Nanded, the district collector has announced a 10-day lockdown in Beed district as well. Lockdown order has been imposed in Beed district under section 144. The lockdown will be from March 26 till April 4.

The letter said that the order would be applicable in Beed municipal city and rural areas as well.During the lockdown, all marriage halls, hotels and restaurants will remain shut in the district. 

Similarly, all schools and colleges in the district will also remain closed during this period. All private offices will remain closed during this period and their employees have been encouraged to work from home.

However, all shops selling essential commodities like grocery, milk and medicines, will be exempted during this lockdown. 

Maharashtra has reported 28,699 new COVID-19 cases, 13,165 recoveries, and 132 deaths in the last 24 hours. According to the State Health Department, the total count of cases has gone up to 25,33,026 including 2,30,641 active cases and 22,47,495 recoveries.
