After sudden spike in Covid-19 cases in Maharashtra, the state government has taken special precautions for this year's Shiv Jayanti celebrations. The Maharashtra government has issued guidelines for Shiv Jayanti stating no processions or big gatherings should be organized on the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on February 19 in view of COVID-19 situation.

The followers of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj are unhappy with such undue restrictions. In addition, the government has now implemented section 144 to prevent folllower of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj from gathering at Shivneri fort.

On the occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's birth anniversary, the iconic 17th century ruler, is celebrated with great fervor in the state. 

Followers of Chhatrapati Shivaji from all across the state gather at Shivneri fort every year on this day. However, due to the corona, the government has made preparations so that the fort is not overcrowded. The Shivneri Shiv Jayanti celebrations will be held in the presence of a few people, so local Shiv Sena supporters should not be crowded, appealed local MLA Atul Benke. But this year, due to the corona, the government has made preparations so that the fort is not overcrowded.
