Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope had a virtual meeting with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. During the meeting it is said that the health minister asked him to either lift the restrictions completely or tighten the lockdown amid the possibility of the third wave of corona.
As per reports Tope in the meeting asked CM Thackeray to take an early decision on the matter as the people have been demand for relaxation in curbs is growing louder.
Tope informed CM Thackeray about the problems being faced by the general public due to certain lockdown restrictions in the state.
The Central government has also expressed concern over the number of Covid-19 cases in the state, thus a final decision will be taken by the CM after taking into considering all the factors in upcoming days.
Meanwhile, Mumbai reported 558 fresh Covid-19 cases during the day and 15 deaths, taking the count of infections to 7,27,694 and the toll to 15,627.
Maharashtra reported 8,535 new COVID-19 cases, 6,013 recoveries and 156 deaths in the last 24 hours. Total cases stand at 61,57,799 while total recoveries are 59,12,479. Death toll meanwhile has reached to 1,25,878. There are 1,16,165 active cases of Coronavirus in the state.
Meanwhile, 58,924 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Maharashtra in the last 24 hours, according to the state health ministry. As many as 52,412 people recovered in the said period and 351 died.
The total case tally reached 38,98,262 while the death toll reached 60,824.
