Deputy Forest Ranger Vinod Shivkumar, who was arrested in connection in connection with the suicide of Deepali Chavan, a forest range officer at Harisal in Dharani taluka, has been remanded to police custody till March 29. He was brought to Dharani court around 12 noon on Saturday under heavy police security. A large crowd had gathered outside the court at this time. Seeing the anger and discontent among the people, a large police contingent was deployed in the court premises. Demonstrators outside the court burnt photo of Vinod Shivkumar and demanded his execution. 

Deputy Forest Ranger (DFO) Vinod Shivkumar was arrested in connection with the Deepali Chavan suicide.He was taken into custody from Nagpur railway station area at 9 am on Friday.

On the complaint of Deepali's husband Rajesh Mohite, around 3 am, the Dharani police filed a case against Shivkumar under Section 306 of the IPC. On social media as well, netizens have been demanding 'Justice for Deepali Chavan'. Anger is also being expressed against the role of SM Reddy, the Upper Principal Chief Conservator of Forests of the Melghat Tiger Project.

RFO Deepali Chavan, a young female officer working in the Harisal Forest Reserve under the Gugamal National Park of the Melghat Tiger Reserve in Amravati district, has committed suicide by shooting herself at her government residence.
