The political field in Maharashtra state has been majorly dominated by the Maratha community. Devendra Fadnavis, a Brahmin leader becoming the Chief Minister of the state who held the post for five years, not only that, but remained a crucial figure even after losing the elections. He has been in a lot of discussions in the political circles about being a Brahmin leader becoming the Chief Minister,

Devendra Fadnavis on being asked by the reporters whether he is proud of being a Brahmin, he said he is a Brahmin and has a very strong opinion on the entire caste system. 

Devendra Fadnavis gave a very clear answer saying there is nothing to be proud of your caste, gone are those days. It is your deeds that should make you feel proud and not your caste. In our country a lot has been said about caste system. There is no distinction between high and low in Hindu Dharma. He opined that one should be proud of one's deeds.
