Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Dilip Walse Patil on Tuesday took charge of the Home Department following the resignation of Anil Deshmukh amidst corruption allegations against him.

The newly elected Home Minister interacted with the media. Dilip-Walse Patil testified that the present times are difficult and I will do my best to carry out the responsibilities given to me without any interference in the administrative work. He has also made a suggestive statement on the question of politically loyal police officers. Patil met party chief Sharad Pawar before taking charge as the new Maharashtra home minister on Tuesday.

“I sought his blessings and enquired about his health. We also discussed the way forward,” Dilip Walse Patil said.

Dilip Walse-Patil was asked about the officers belonging to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in the police force and their loyalty. "Who is loyal or not will b=come to know in the near future. Right information will be taken and a decision will be taken on it ", said Dilip-Walse Patil.Dilip Walse Patil replaced Anil Deshmukh who resigned after the Bombay High Court ordered a CBI probe into the corruption allegations levelled by former Mumbai top cop Parambir Singh.
