Applicants for houses under CIDCO's Mass Housing Scheme for January 2024 are now required to submit a Domicile Certificate, as mandated by the City and Industrial Development Corporation's (CIDCO) recent decision. This requirement was established following a decision made by the CIDCO board on Thursday.

Previously, CIDCO had published a booklet for the mass housing scheme, indicating that applicants from the LIG/General category were exempt from submitting a Domicile certificate. However, CIDCO clarified that this exemption was mentioned unintentionally. As a result, CIDCO has issued a fresh notification to rectify this oversight.

The planning agency issued a fresh notice that all the applicants belonging to economically weaker section (EWS), lower income group (LIG) and general category have to submit Domicile certificate indicating that they are residents of the state of Maharashtra. All the applicants have to include the Domicile certificate at the time of applying for tenements under CIDCO Mass Housing Scheme January-2024, said an official from CIDCO, adding that the domicile certificate will ensure that the application is a resident of the state of Maharashtra.

The decision to include the domicile was taken by the CIDCO board. It has been made mandatory for the EWS/ LIG / general category to submit a Domicile certificate of residence of at least 15 years in Maharashtra, said the official. CIDCO announced the Mass Housing Scheme January - 2024 on January 26 for a total of 3,322 tenements in Dronagiri and Taloja nodes for EWS under PMAY and General category citizens.
