Shiv Sena Republican Party Alliance: Shiv Sena led by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced a new alliance with the Republican Sena headed by Anandraj Ambedkar, the grandson of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar ahead of the upcoming local body elections in Maharashtra. The announcement was made on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, during a joint press conference held in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Speaking at a press conference, Shinde said the alliance is based on shared values and a vision for inclusive development. "We are proud to join hands with Anandraj Ambedkar and the Republican Sena for the upcoming elections. This partnership is built on shared values and a commitment to social justice. Together, we will work to ensure inclusive development and a stronger voice for the marginalised," he said.

The alliance is likely to play a key role in the elections to municipal corporations across major cities, along with Zilla Parishad elections in the state.

Anandraj Ambedkar is the younger brother of Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi chief Prakash Ambedkar. He earlier contested the Lok Sabha election from Amravati but did not win. His party, Republican Sena, holds influence in parts of the Vidarbha region.

Anandraj Ambedkar welcomed the alliance and called it a historic step. "This is a historic moment. We believe this partnership will create a new political alternative that represents the aspirations of Dalits and the common people," he said.
