A case under various sections, including the Atrocities Act, has been registered against 27 police officers, including former Mumbai and Thane police commissioner Parambir Singh, at the City Kotwali police station in Akola late on Wednesday night.

Senior Inspector of Police Bhimraj Ghadge has lodged a complaint with the Director General of Police and the Director General of Bribery Prevention against Parambir Singh for embezzling thousands of crores of rupees while he was the Thane City Police Commissioner.

At the same time, Bhimraj Ghadge lodged a complaint with the City Kotwali Police Station alleging that 27 police officers, including Parambir Singh, had insulted Bhimraj Ghadge. It is learned that dozens of police officers including four Deputy Commissioners of Police Parag Manere, Sanjay Shinde, Sunil Bhardwaj and Vijay Fulkar are involved in this. The case will be handed over to Thane police and the matter will now be investigated by Thane police, sources said.
