A deaf and dumb woman named Geeta, who accidentally went to Pakistan at an early age and returned to India during the time of the late Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj, has met her real mother.

Geeta's real name is Radha Waghmare and her village is Naigaon in Maharashtra. Gita found her home after four and a half years after returning to India.

It has taken nearly four and half years for Geeta to find her real parents. The DNA of those who made the claims was being matched across the country. At last these efforts have met with success. Geeta's mother's name is Meena and her father has passed away.Radha had accidentally gone to Pakistan when she was 11-12 years old when the India-Pakistan railway service started. She was found by the Edhi Foundation, a social organization, at a railway station in Karachi. Edhi had raised her in his ashram. She was initially named Fatima. She could not speak or hear. However, her behavior later revealed that she was not a Muslim. In 2015, after Geeta’s story broke out, the late External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj, made arrangements for her to be flown back home.

Pakistan's English-language newspaper The Dawn has also confirmed the news. Bilkis Edhi, wife of Abdul Sattar Edhi, the late chairman of Edhi Welfare Trust, said Geeta has met her real mother. Earlier this week, she was contacted to express her happiness at meeting her mother. Tears rolled down Meena's eyes as she met Geeta for the first time.
