Heat Wave: Heat wave hits entire Konkan; Temperatures rises to 39 in most parts of state

The heat wave continues throughout Konkan, including Gujarat and Mumbai, on Saturday. The maximum temperature in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Ratnagiri and other cities reported 38 degrees Celsius.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, Gujarat and the entire Konkan have been experiencing heat waves for the past few days. The average maximum temperature rised by 6 degrees Celsius  

The maximum average temperature recorded an increase of 6 degrees at Palghar and Ratnagiri. The maximum temperature was recorded at 40 degrees Celsius, with the weather forecast to remain dry across the state for the day.

The weather in Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon and Nashik is expected to be hot for the next five days, the meteorological department said.

The maximum temperature in Mumbai was recorded at 39 degrees Celsius around 12 noon on Saturday. Mumbai was the hottest place today and Thane was no different. By 4 pm, the maximum temperature is expected to cross 38 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, unseasonal rains have already lashed the state and hailstorms have also lashed most parts of the state. The heat wave, which started in March, has hit citizens hard and is expected to increase further in April and May, the meteorological department said.
