For the next three days, Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg are under a yellow alert (hot and humid weather) issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday, April 7. According to the IMD, Maharashtra's maximum temperatures would gradually increase by 3 - 4°C until April 11. The Santacruz observatory in Mumbai reported temperatures of at least 24 degrees Celsius and as high as 33.8 degrees Celsius on Sunday. With daytime highs of 36°C to 37°C and nighttime lows of 26°C to 27°C, the city will continue to enjoy bright skies and pleasant temperatures.

As the state approaches the height of summer, Maharashtra experienced unseasonal rains in a number of areas last week. Maharashtra is expected to see above-normal minimum and maximum temperatures in April 2025, according to IMD's forecast. There will likely be more warm days, particularly in the interior. While North Konkan and Marathwada are anticipated to experience near-average rainfall, South Konkan and South Madhya Maharashtra may experience normal to above-normal rainfall.

Beginning today, Madhya Pradesh also saw its first summer heat waves. A yellow notice has been issued by the IMD. Heat waves are predicted to hit parts of the Gwalior and Chambal region, including Sheopur, Guna, Ashok Nagar, Daita, Bhind, and Morena, in addition to Neemuch and Mandsaur in the west Madhya Pradesh, IMD's Madhya Pradesh Forecast In-charge Divya E. Surendran told PTI.
