IMD predicts heavy rainfall in Mumbai, Thane, Raigad & Palghar district

Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places in Mumbai, Thane, Raigad & Palghar districts of Maharashtra today and heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places in the districts tomorrow, said India Meteorological Centre, Mumbai. 

Rains in Mumbai to increase from tomorrow. Total rainfall from Wednesday to Friday likely around 150-200mm. Catchment area will get moderate rainfall. Interior Maharashtra will also get moderate rainfall. South Konkan will get heavy rains.

In fact, the India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, Thane and Palghar for Wednesday.

The IMD, in its forecast for the next 48 hours, said, "Intermittent moderate rain/showers very likely in city and suburbs. Possibility of very heavy rainfall at isolated places." It is believed that the intensity of rains is likely to increase on Tuesday. A red alert has also been issued for Raigad and Ratnagiri for July 15.
