The statue of Lord Buddha in Cave Number 10 at Ellora Caves illuminated with radiant light on Monday evening, leaving hundreds of tourists and history enthusiasts in awe. The sight, known as the "Kiranotsav," occurs annually as sunrays fall on the Buddha's face, creating a mesmerizing glow.

The Ellora Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage site, features 34 caves, including 12 Buddhist caves. Cave Number 10, a Buddhist Chaitya (prayer hall), is the focus of this rare event. As the sun moves northward, its rays enter the cave and touch the Buddha’s face, creating a stunning visual display.

Dr. Sanjay Paikrao, a historian, explained that the event would continue for the next 5 to 6 days. Tourists from across India and abroad gathered to witness the phenomenon, many expressing their amazement at the sight. Foreign visitors were equally impressed, describing the experience as "amazing."

The event saw a significant increase in attendance this year, with large crowds both inside and outside the cave. To ensure safety and manage the situation, the police were called to assist with crowd control.

The sun’s rays began to enter the cave around 4:20 p.m. At precisely 5:04 p.m., the rays fell on the Buddha’s face, creating a moment of radiant convergence that lasted until 5:15 p.m. The event captivated all those who were fortunate enough to witness it.
