Maharashtra government on Friday sent a senior IPS officer on compulsory leave for allowing DHFL promoters Kapil and Dheeraj Wadhawan to travel despite the ongoing lockdown, Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said.

Meanwhile, opposition BJP has latched onto the issue. BJP leader Kirit Somaiya has directly accused NCP President Sharad Pawar. He said without Sharad Pawar's nod, the Wadhwan family wouldn't have obtained the permission from the Special Principal Secretary in the Home Ministry Amitabh Gupta to travel Mahabaleshawar. Kirit Somaiya has claimed that Sharad Pawar is involved in this case.

BJP leader Kirit Somaiya tweeted,"Wadhawan Brothers who are on bail in DHFL/Yes Bank Fraudcase are given VVIP treatment/passes by Maharashtra government to travel from Mumbai to Mahabaleshwar in convoy. I urge Governor of Maharashtra to order Investigation."

In his another tweet,"Wadhawan Brothers who r accused in Yes Bank/DHFL fraud, CBI had issued Non Bailable Warrants against them, instead arresting them & handover to CBI, Maharashtra Govt gives them VVIP treatment Home Minister Anil Deshmukh owes explanation to the Country"

Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Devendra Fadnavis wondered how could one vacation in Mahabaleshwar with official permission from the police when lockdown is in force.

"No lockdowns for mighty and rich in Maharashtra?. One can spend holidays in Mahabaleshwar with official permission from police," the former chief minister said.
