Latur Municipal Corporation (LMC) Commissioner Babasaheb Manohare is in critical condition after an alleged suicide attempt on Saturday night, April 5th. Manohare reportedly shot himself in the head with a revolver at his government bungalow around 11:15 PM. According to initial reports, Manohare had dined and conversed with his family before retreating to his room. Moments later, a gunshot was heard, prompting family members to discover him critically injured. He was immediately rushed to Sahyadri Hospital in Latur.
Dr. Hanumant Kinikar, Director of Sahyadri Hospital, confirmed the severity of Manohare's injuries, stating that the bullet entered the right side of his head, fractured his skull, and exited. The impact caused significant brain damage, with fragments of the skull lodged within the brain tissue. "The bullet passed through the right side of his head, fracturing the skull and exiting," Dr. Kinikar explained. "There is significant brain damage, and fragments of the skull are embedded within the brain." Doctors are preparing to perform surgery to remove the skull fragments and address the brain trauma. The medical team is reportedly making every effort to stabilize Manohare's condition and save his life. Updates on the surgery's outcome are pending.
Manohare is known as a strict disciplinarian and outspoken officer, with previous postings in Dharashiv and Nanded districts of the Marathwada region. He initially served as the Additional Commissioner of the Latur Municipal Corporation before his promotion to Municipal Commissioner.
