Lokmat Media Group has announced the upcoming edition of the Lokmat Maharashtrian of the Year Awards 2026, a prestigious initiative celebrating individuals whose work has contributed significantly to the progress of Maharashtra across diverse fields. A grand ceremony to honour distinguished personalities from across the state will take place on Tuesday, March 10, at the iconic Gateway of India in Mumbai. This will be the second time in the history of the awards that the ceremony will be held at the historic venue, popularly known as the “Gateway to India.”
One of the major highlights of the evening will be a special interview with Devendra Fadnavis, conducted by renowned Bollywood actor Aamir Khan. This will mark the first time that Fadnavis and Aamir Khan will share the stage for a joint interview, making it one of the most anticipated moments of the event. The ceremony will also be attended by Eknath Shinde, who will be present as a special guest. During the event, veteran Marathi film actor Ashok Saraf will be honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his remarkable contribution to the entertainment industry.
Ahead of the ceremony, teaser visuals of the awards were displayed on the Bandra–Worli Sea Link, India’s first cable-stayed sea bridge built to facilitate high-speed urban connectivity across Mumbai. Images of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Aamir Khan were illuminated on the bridge using special lighting, creating excitement ahead of the event. The awards recognise excellence in several sectors, including public service, social work, education, healthcare, agriculture, sports, industry, startups, promising IAS officers, promising IPS officers, influential political leaders, and promising political leadership.
Several cabinet ministers, senior IAS and IPS officers, entrepreneurs, doctors, and lawyers are expected to attend the ceremony. Over the years, the Lokmat Maharashtrian of the Year Awards have emerged as a respected platform honouring inspiring personalities who have made a meaningful impact on society and contributed to the development of Maharashtra.
