A 54-year-old assistant sub-inspector has been suspended after reportedly asking a female detainee to send her daughter to him for sexual favours in Maharashtra's Akola district, police said on April 1. The woman was arrested in connection with a Rs 80 lakh financial fraud case and held at the Civil Lines Police Station jail. On March 31, assistant sub-inspector Rajesh Jadhav, who was on duty, allegedly exploited his position to entice the mother with financial offers and asked that she send her daughter to him for sexual favours, according to police inspector Anil Jumle.The woman subsequently made a complaint to senior police officers. A video later emerged on social media showing senior police officers addressing and reprimanding the ASI.

Archit Chandak, the District Superintendent of Police, suspended the ASI with immediate effect on March 31, stated a police official. He stated that a complaint has been filed against the accused on grounds of insulting a woman's modesty and violating other legal rules.
