An employee of a courier firm in Arni town of Maharashtra's Yavatmal district has accused a police official of threatening him for not referring to him as 'sir' over a phone call made in connection with the delivery of his parcel.

An audio clip of their purported conversation as well as a video of the policeman's visit to the victim's courier firm office, where he was seen threatening the former, have gone viral. The incident took place on February 23, victim Dheeraj Gedam said, adding that he has not lodged a complaint in this connection so far.

Dheeraj works for a parcel delivery company named Sunrise Logistics, located in the Arnie area of Yavatmal. He receives Rs 10 for every delivery. While working, Dheeraj called customers with parcels to gather information. On one occasion, he called a person whose parcel had Keshav Thackeray's name and mobile number written on it. Dheeraj asked if Keshav Thackeray was speaking, which angered Thackeray. He replied, "Is Keshav Thackeray your servant? Do you know who you are talking to? I am the thanadar here."

In response, Dheeraj said, "Your name is written on the parcel, not your title." Thackeray then asked, "Sir, can't you address me as 'saheb'? Tell me where you are, and I’ll verify you." Thackeray also used abusive language towards Dheeraj. Keshav Thackeray, along with a colleague, went to Dheeraj’s office, where they continued to abuse and assault him. The entire incident was captured on CCTV. After the video surfaced, it sparked widespread anger among the public.
