In a deeply disturbing incident, the body of a five-year-old girl who went missing on Thursday evening was found murdered in a field near Vathar village in Karad taluka on Friday morning. The girl, identified as Sanskruti Ramchandra Jadhav, was reportedly strangled to death. Police have detained a 16-year-old girl and one other person in connection with the crime. According to police reports and eyewitness accounts, young Sanskruti was playing near her house on Thursday evening when she suddenly disappeared. As night fell and she didn’t return home, her worried family began searching the area, but she remained missing. Local police, along with senior officials, launched a massive search operation. Efforts included scouring nearby farms and areas along the Pune-Bengaluru National Highway. The child’s photo and details were also widely circulated on social media to aid in the search.

Search Operation with Drone Leads to Discovery
Acting on the orders of Superintendent of Police Sameer Shaikh and Additional SP Vaishali Kadukar, a full-scale search operation was carried out overnight with support from the local crime branch and other police units. Drones were deployed to scan the village outskirts. At around 5 AM Friday, the girl’s lifeless body was discovered in a nearby field.
Investigation Underway, Motive Still Unclear
Police immediately transported the body to the Karad Sub-District Hospital for postmortem. A large crowd gathered at the hospital as news of the tragedy spread through the village. Though the motive behind the murder remains unknown, early investigations point to the involvement of a 16-year-old girl, who is currently in police custody. Another suspect from the same village has also been detained for questioning. Officials have assured that a thorough investigation is being carried out to uncover the full truth.
