Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Friday reviewed the flood situation in Mahad and took information from Raigad District Collector.

Check out the key highlights of the current situation:

  • Rescue operations for flood victims in Mahad have started with the help of rescue squads and helicopters.
  • The administration has appealed to the rescue team in the helicopter to make an effort to see the trapped people if they go on the roof or height of the house.
  • Rescue operations and roadblocks should be started immediately.
  • Bridges and roads have been washed away in some places in the hilly areas of Mahad taluka and with the help of rescue teams the citizens should be contacted and shifted to safer places.
  • Planning is underway to distribute food packets to needy in Mangaon.
  • The Chief Minister asked to ensure that COVID patients as well as other patients do not face any inconvenience due to the situation in Mahad.
  • MIDC fire brigade has also come to the rescue.

Amidst heavy showers, Navy and Coast Guard helicopters were rushed to Mahad in Maharashtra’s Raigad district to airlift people stranded in floods. As the flood water rose, people were seen rushing to the terraces of their homes, awaiting help. Some even took refuge at the state transport bus stop. Heavy rains blocked all roadways and power was down as the city was submerged in water.
