Maharashtra govt soon to take decision on opening religious places

The Maharashtra government is considering reopening of religious places and temples across the state, minister Aslam Sheikh on Monday told several Masjid trustees. Masjid trustees Sheikh requesting to open the dargahs to the public which have been closed since March due to COVID-19 outbreak. 

Aslam assured the trustees that the government was preparing a strategy to open religious places.

Sheikh assured Masjid trustees that the Maharashtra government is seriously considering the opening of religious places. Also, there have been several representation from religious leaders to various ministers in regard to reopening the places of worship.

However, the Maha Vikas Aghadi government hasn't taken any decision yet on opening of temples and religious places.

The pressure on the Maharashtra government is increasing to open the religious places. MNS chief Raj Thackeray on Monday asked Uddhav Thackeray-led government, "If Govt can open malls and other things then why can't they open temples?" 

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had allowed religious places/places of worship, hotels, restaurants, and other hospitality services, and shopping malls to reopen from June 8 in areas outside the Containment Zones.
