Lockdown is not the only option given the increasing cases in Maharashtra. Instead, BJP state president Chandrakant Patil has demanded in a video clip to strengthen the health infrastructure in the state and focus more on effective measures.

Also, the state authorities should take help from the NGOs to tackle the crisis, Patil suggested. Everyone is worried about the increasing covid cases in the state. Only eight days or fifteen days of lockdown is not going to end the problem. Lockdown will reduce the number of cases. But it will not completely eradicate the issue.

Therefore, there is a need to focus on long-term measures, including temporary lockdowns or stricter restrictions. For this, a large number of basic facilities should be provided for the health system, said Patil.

"People are skeptical about getting corona tests, so a follow up for perfect testing kit shoudl be done. Tata had provided covid testing kits, but where did it disappeared, we don't know. Similarly, for those who have mild symptoms, start Covid Centre through NGOs, increase oxygen beds for those with severe symptoms, supply of Remedesivir injection to all hospitals through the Collector's office, and operate a system to produce oxygen in the hospitals. It is necessary to take stock of the ventilators in the district through Collector's office, as well as to make up for the shortage of manpower by involving the medical students studying in the last year, ”said Chandrakant Patil.

COVID-19 cases continued to increase at an alarming rate in Maharashtra with as many as 63,294 new infections and 349 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, the state health department said on Sunday, taking the total positive cases in the state to 34,07,245.There are now 5,65,587 active cases in the state. A total of 27,82,161 recoveries and 57,987 deaths have been reported in the state so far. Out of the total cases, 91,100 were reported from Mumbai, 74,335 from Thane, and 1,09,590 from Pune.
