Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that the case involving Ashok Kharat is extremely serious and has been exposed through intelligence inputs. He explained that authorities were aware that many women may hesitate to come forward due to social stigma and fear of embarrassment. Therefore, efforts are being made to encourage victims and their families, offering them support and confidence to speak up. According to him, these outreach efforts are beginning to show results, with some women now responding and stepping forward to share their experiences. He was addressing the media during a press interaction.

Fadnavis further said that the entire matter is being monitored at the highest level, with strict supervision in place. He has directed the Director General of Police to personally oversee the investigation. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed, and officials, including the Nashik Police Commissioner, are jointly handling the probe. He assured that no individual involved will be spared under any circumstances. He also warned against attempts to politicise the issue, urging anyone with concrete evidence to present it so that appropriate action can be taken without delay.

He criticised those trying to give the matter a political angle, stating that making baseless allegations without evidence is irresponsible. Fadnavis remarked that he could present proof regarding visits made by several individuals, including opposition members, but clarified that such evidence lies with the police and it is their responsibility to act on it. He emphasised that the investigation must proceed professionally and without bias, and any claims should be backed by verifiable facts rather than speculation or political motives.

The Chief Minister added that if any individual who had contact with Ashok Kharat is found to be involved in wrongdoing, strict action will be taken. However, he cautioned against taking action solely based on association or meetings. Referring to issues highlighted in media reports, he questioned how certain facilities, such as a 40-kilometre water pipeline, were provided and who authorised them. He stressed that the matter should not be reduced to political debate, as it concerns the dignity and safety of women, which must remain the top priority.

Fadnavis strongly condemned the alleged misuse of influence to exploit women, calling it one of the gravest forms of crime. He asserted that those responsible will face strict punishment, regardless of their position or power. He reiterated that the government and police are committed to taking all necessary steps to ensure justice is delivered. He also pointed out that merely having photographs with individuals does not imply involvement, but questioned why selective criticism is being made in certain cases while others are ignored.

Concluding his remarks, Fadnavis said that the government has no interest in politicising the issue and is focused solely on protecting the dignity of women. He assured that every victim will receive justice and that the authorities will not rest until accountability is established. He also mentioned that any financial irregularities discovered during the investigation will be thoroughly examined, and appropriate action will be taken against those found guilty.
