Mumbai, Maharashtra (March 25, 2025): Thirty passengers narrowly escaped after a private bus traveling from Kolhapur to Mumbai met with an accident and caught fire near Ozarde village on the  Mumbai-Pune Expressway early Wednesday morning. The incident took place around 5 a.m. Fortunately, all passengers were unharmed.

Shirgaon police have reportedly detained the bus driver, Varshiket Pralhad Birajdar, in connection with the incident. According to the regional media reports, the accident happened when Birajdar lost control of the vehicle while attempting to overtake another. The bus crashed through the highway’s protective barrier and veered off the road. The impact is believed to have sparked the fire.

The passengers managed to evacuate safely before the bus was engulfed in flames. Fire brigades from Vadgaon and Talegaon Dabhade, along with MSRDC teams, responded quickly and brought the fire under control. However, the bus was completely destroyed.
