In a shocking incident from Waluj, a 20-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her own mother, who then tried to dispose of the body in a chilling manner. The accused, identified as Bharti Sable, was arrested after police uncovered the crime during a late-night vehicle check. The victim, Nandini Raju Dhivare, had been living with her mother for the past three years after separating from her husband. Authorities have also taken into custody Nandini’s stepfather and maternal uncle for allegedly assisting in the attempt to conceal and dispose of the body.

According to investigators, tensions had been brewing at home over Nandini’s relationship with a young man from Kannad. She reportedly wished to remarry, but her mother strongly opposed the idea. On February 19, a heated argument erupted between the two over the same issue. During the confrontation, Nandini questioned her mother’s objection, pointing out that Bharti herself had remarried. Police said the exchange escalated dramatically, and in a fit of rage, Bharti allegedly strangled her daughter using a rubber pipe, resulting in her death inside the house.

After the incident, Bharti allegedly sought help from her husband, Umesh Sable, and her brother, Amol Gaikwad, to dispose of the body. The trio reportedly planned to bury Nandini’s remains in a field in Kannad to avoid suspicion. To execute their plan, they created the impression that they were shifting their residence. The body was wrapped tightly inside a household mattress and loaded into a rickshaw along with other belongings, in an apparent attempt to pass it off as regular household goods during transportation.

The crime came to light due to the alertness of the rickshaw driver. While passing through the Tisgaon Chaufulli area late at night, he noticed unusual behavior and suspicious movements from his passengers. Growing wary, he immediately alerted the police. Officers quickly intercepted the vehicle and conducted a thorough search. During the inspection, they discovered Nandini’s body hidden inside the mattress. Initially, Bharti claimed that her daughter had taken her own life, but a post-mortem examination confirmed death by strangulation, leading to her confession.
