In an tragic incident a speeding car rammed into a State Transport Board bus at Malegaon Shivara in Kej taluka on the Shegaon-Pandharpur National Highway at around 2 am on Saturday. Following the accident four drunk passengers in the car were seriously injured and four passengers in the bus suffered minor injuries.  On the other hand, the driver's caution saved the bus from falling into a 20-foot-deep ditch on the side of the road, avoding a major disaster. The Hingoli depot bus was heading towards Hingoli from Kolhapur with 45 passengers.

On Saturday, around 2 am, a speeding car of devotees going to Tuljapur for Devdarshan hit the bus from the front due to the driver losing control at the bend near the Malegaon bus stand.  In this accident, Hanumant Chintaman Panchal (28 years), Sudhakar Bhimrao Vakure (30 years), Vilas Madhukar Waghmare (25 years), Santram Madhav Javade (40 years, all four of Shukleshwar Nimbgaon to Majalgaon) in the car have been seriously injured. It is known that four passengers in the bus have also been slightly injured.

As soon as the information was received, Assistant Police Inspector Machhindranath Shendge of Yusufwadgaon Police Station, Jamadar Mahadev Kedar and other employees reached the spot. Youths from Malegaon Baliram Lokre, Kamlakar Gavane, Datta Gavane, Ram Chirke, Dnyaneshwari Giri rushed to the accident spot and with the help of the passengers in the bus, broke the door of the car and got out the four people trapped in the car. After that, all four injured were sent to Swarati Hospital in Ambajogai for further treatment.

Bus driver's alertness averted damage

As the bus going from Kolhapur to Hingoli approached the Malegaon bus stop, a car coming from the opposite direction hit the bus. At this time, the bus driver was able to control the speed of the bus by being alert. Otherwise, the bus would have fallen into a 20-foot deep pit and caused a major accident. Due to this, 44 passengers in the bus escaped unhurt.

All four in the car were drunk

The car was smashed in the accident and there was major damage. When the youths who rushed to help immediately asked the injured for their names and villages, the youths who rushed to help informed Lokmat marathi that none of them could speak properly because they were in a drunken state.
